Drought destroys cereals in Benguela's Caimbambo Municipality

Caimbambo -  About 2.000 hectares of cereal plantations are being destroyed in Caimbambo Municipality, Benguela Province, due to the prolonged drought in the region, ANGOP has learnt.


The chairman of the National Association of Peasants and Farming Co-operatives (Unaca) in Caimbambo, Mateus Catimba, said the plantations of  maize, beans and soya have been affected due to lack of rains.


He said that the situation may put the harvest at risk.


The agricultural sector worked in about 2.000 hectares of lands for plantations.
