Menongue – Angolan minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries, Afonso Pedro Canga, is paying on Friday a two-day working visit to south-eastern Kuando Kubango province, aimed at distributing agricultural inputs, as part of the kicking off of emergence programme of Agriculture and Fishing in the region.
Speaking at “4 de Fevereiro” International Airport before his departure, the minister said that a
special programme is being developed in the province aimed to assess the level of implementation of agricultural projects, boosting of some cultures, forests, poultry and bovine culture production.
According to Afonso Pedro Canga, Kuando Kubango province has great potentials and various
natural resources, and therefore it is needed to develop actions related to agricultural and farming
development.
The minister said that agriculture is very important for population because they consume the
agricultural products and this enable the betterment of the quality of the citizen’s living conditions.
Angop learnt that the minister’s programme also includes inauguration of facilities of Agrarian
Development Institute (IDA), as well as the opening of irrigated perimeter of agriculture field of
Missombo, outskirts of Menongue.
The government minister, who is expected back to Luanda Saturday, will also visit Longa firm
(production and processing project of rice), in Kuito Kuanavale district, in the charge of a Chinese
company.
