Pension funds reach USD 320 million

 
Luanda - The pension funds, created in Angola in 1998, attained in 2008 a business amount of almost USD 320 million, Friday, in Luanda, announced the chief of department autonomous funds of the Institute of Insurance Supervision (ISS), Jesus Teixeira.


 
Speaking to Angop, about the importance of the pension funds, the source said that at least 44,630 people are covered by the pension funds that are powerful saving instruments.


 
Jesus Teixeira said that the contribution of the pension funds sector in the economy is not yet desirable, but as soon as the economy grows the dynamic of this activity will be another, taking into consideration the higher capacity of capitation saving of the companies and families that the funds have.


 
According to the source, 2003 was the changing year of the Angolan economy, in which the government reached, through a macroeconomic policy, establishing Kwanza and the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) started to grow quickly permitting to improve the activity of pension funds.
