Japanese aid to build USD 2.55 billion bridge needed

Luanda – The Angolan Government Monday, here, asked for financial and technological support from the Japanese executive to build a bridge between the provinces of Zaire and Cabinda, estimated at USD 2.55 billion.


 
According to a press release issued by the National Agency for Private Investment (Anip), Angola showed this intention during a meeting between both Angolan and Japanese governments, held at the premises of the Foreign Affairs Ministry (Mirex).


 
The project mentions that the work will start in Soyo (Angola), with almost 150 kilometres, including a bridge of 20 kilometres of extension crossing the regions of Yema, Muanda and Banana (Democratic Republic of Congo), till Cabinda (Angola).


 
The project named Cabinda Link, evaluated at USD 2.55 billion, will enable trading exchanges with other provinces of the country, looking for complementary and competitive advantages, aiming to be in opposition to the effect of trading along the border with the neighbouring countries.


 
Concerning the project, the Angolan and Congolese authorities have been maintaining regular meetings to analyse the several implementation phases, such as choosing the plant, finance supporter and builder, despite of visiting all the extension.


 
The document mentions that during the meeting, Angolan Executive, represented by the secretary of State for Cooperation, Exalgina Gambôa, asked also Japanese support in projects of great dimension related to roads and mini hydroelectric plant.


 
 
At the meeting with the Japanese delegation, led by the secretary of State of Foreign Affairs, Osamu Fujimura, Angola requested also help for creation and implementation of the system of digital TV all over the country.
