Luanda - The first meeting of the Trade and Investment Council will be held on Monday in Luanda under the framework agreement signed on May 19, 2009, between the governments of Angola and the United States.
A press note that reached Angop today states that the agreement, signed under the Trade and Investments Framework Agreement, a US government bilateral consultation mechanism for trade and investment promotion, will allow the signing, in future, of agreements for recyprocal investments protection and free trade accords between the two countries.
The Trade and Investments Council is co-chaired by the angolan trade minister, Idalina Valente, and the US trade representative, Demetrius Martins, and includes representatives of the state departments for agriculture, transports and several US development agencies.
For Angola, the Council includes officials from the ministries of economic coordination, external relations, geology and mining, industry, agriculture rural development and fisheries, finance, transports, science and technology and of the environment.
