Luanda – The minister of Urbanisation and Construction, José Ferreira, said Saturday in Luanda that the Angolan government has been working on an executive-decree that will define a price for land purchase in the country, so as to enable real estate agents to work with lower prices.
“One of the matters that people present is that the cost of land is still very high, so we are working towards defining a standard value for the whole country, so that the real estate agents will not need to justify the high value of a house with a high cost of land plot”, the minister explained.
The government official said so to the press at the “4 de Fevereiro” International Airport, moments before departing to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where he will attend the Fifth World Urban Forum, set to happen on 22-26 March .
He recognised that in general terms real estate projects still involve high costs, a situation that needs correcting with the implementation of some measures.
“There has to be more supply of housing for prices to go down”, said the minister, adding that within the housing foment programme of the government houses have well defined prices, both the low cost and the medium cost ones.
On the other hand, José Ferreira considered as positive the implementation of the “one million houses” project, adding that currently agreements have been signed with the firms that will co-participate in the construction of the residences.
