Luanda
Angola saves over USD 500 million with fast goods clearance

Luanda – The country has saved between 500 million to one billion US dollars, through the reduction in the time of goods clearance at the Luanda Port to about 10 to 15 days.

The announcement was made Monday here by the Angolan minister of Transport, Augusto da Silva Tomás, during a meeting sponsored by the National Shippers' Council (CNC), aimed at presenting CNC’s internet portal and National Shipping Stock Market (BNF).

According to the minister, goods clearance at Luanda Port used to be deceitfully delayed to 90 days, damaging the economy and as result the importers were forced to pay expensive fees for its permanence at the harbour zone.

He appealed for courage and consistency when materialising decisions outlined by the government, in order that the people, the main beneficiaries of public services, can also benefit from this service.
