Luanda – With the increment of trade relations in the Portuguese Speaking Countries Community (CPLP) and the successful exploration of cross opportunities, the movement of goods at Angolan ports may increase, by 2015, to over five million tonnes.
This was said last Friday, in Luanda, by the deputy minister of Transports, José João Kuvingua.
According to the official, who said so when closing the Third Meeting of Port Authorities of the CPLP, this datum can be seen on a market study still being conducted, which was presented by Portugal’s Association of Ports.
As an example, said José Kuvingua, the Angolan and Mozambican ports, besides serving their respective internal markets might also have a relevant role in the regional supply chains.
He informed that the exploration of these opportunities might enable the development of the industry related to the establishment of a logistical service base and transport, with strong impact on the creation of wealth and employment, as well as contribute to the diversification of the economies.
On the other hand, he said, to be able to explore these opportunities it will be necessary to proceed with the investments in infrastructures, development of fast and efficient processes, training of human resources and support technological means.
He revealed that CPLP represents one of the biggest economies in the world and the biggest one in the world maritime exclusive zone, mainly on the Atlantic Ocean.
The meeting was attended by officials from Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, São Tomé e Príncipe and Portugal.
The fourth meeting of Port Authorities of the CPLP will be organised by Cape Verde, in 2011.
