Peasants of Caimbambo district get bank loans

Caimbambo – At least 362 farmers members of the UNACA-confederation, from Caimbambo district, 116 kilometres south-east of Benguela city, benefited in the past three years from a bank loan estimated at USD 32,825,  said the association‘s chairman.

Speaking to ANGOP this Friday, the chairman of the local National Union of Angolan Farmers' Associations (UNACA), Mateus Catimba, said that the amount granted by the Sol bank enabled to boost cattle-breeding activities in rural areas of the district.

He added that pumps and milling equipment were bought with the funding, and it also enabled the promotion of small businesses.

To celebrate its 20th anniversary on Saturday, UNACA has 59 associations and 15 cattle-breeding cooperatives which house 7,167 members and 821 co-workers.
