Luanda – The demand for diamond on the world market will lead to the doubling of production until 2020, due to the recovery of the Us economy and the needs from emerging countries such as India and China, a source from the sector has announced.
The chairperson of the managing board of Escom firm, Hélder Bataglia, said so while delivering the topic "Primary markets and Consumption: trends and investments in diamond and exploration.
The meeting took place under the celebrations of the 29th anniversary of the State-run Angola Diamond Company (Endiama).
The official said that diamond total production in the world is estimated at 163.0 million carats, reaching an amount of Usd 12 billion.
He said that the increase in production will be due to demand from the Chinese market and expected increase in demand from India until 2015, including from individual parties and long term purchase contracts.
Due to this reality, that entity proposes a better organisation and investment in the country so that Angola can benefit from these expected development.
