Luanda – Economic ties between Angola and South Korea are excellent, due to the current increase of business exchange between both nations, Angop learnt from the South Korean diplomat, Hon Jae-Young.
In an interview to Angop, the ambassador stated that the volume of South Korean exports to Angola, in 2008, was amounted at USD 1.2 billion, superior to 2007 ( USD 173 million.
Hon Jae-Young said such increase also is due to South Korean’s company involvement in construction of oil platform in Angola.
According to the diplomat, South Korea exports vehicles to Angola, electronic equipment and materials for oil platforms and imports oil, fish and other maritime products from the country.
He added that in August of 2008, a business meeting promoted by Angolan embassy in that country, took place in Seoul to attract South Korean investment.
“Over 200 South Korean companies that participated in the meeting are interested to investing in Angola”, said.
In Angola there are already some South Korean companies operating such as Hunday, Namkwang International, Samsung and Interburgo.
The ambassador concluded that his country aims to support Angola in various areas, to help the country reaching an economic and social sustainable development.
