Angola and South Africa to boost cooperation in mining sector

Luanda – Angola and South Africa are ready to boost cooperation in the mining sector and enable businessmen from both countries to obtain mutual advantages in their  activities, taking into account the potential of both countries and positions in the existing market.

 
This was assured this Friday in Luanda by senior officials of the Angolan and South African governments on the sidelines of the technical-business forum held in Luanda.

 
Speaking to ANGOP, the national director of geology and mining of Angola, Paulo Nvinca, said that in the light of the South-South cooperation both countries are co-ordinating actions capable of boosting strategic partnerships susceptible of generating development, combating poverty and guaranteeing the wellbeing of citizens.

 
Paulo Nvinca said that the mining sector is, by excellence, favourable to investment, and within Angola's desired diversification plan, South Africa reserves its space to act, be it in business initiatives as in the transference of knowledge in various areas.

 
He referred that Angola and South Africa has a broad work ahead and also share responsibilities within the SADC region, therefore the need to co-ordinate their strategies, creating a framework in which businessmen from the two nations are authorised to perform their activities without hindrances, both in Angola as in South Africa.

 
The source said that Angola witnessed some great improvement and currently registers a strong economic stability, as well as an attractive legal framework that is also favourable to investments, and in this peace era it is in conditions to develop its mining sector and promote credible partnerships.
 

On his turn, the director of the South African mining and energy department, Adv Sandile Nogxina, stated that the cooperation with Angola is positive, and both peoples share a strong feeling of development, and mining sector is ready to guarantee mutual benefits for its citizens, because the two nations have mineral potentials.

 
Adv Sandile Nogxina stressed the existence of conditions for South African companies to invest in Angola, and there is an opportunity for Angolans to intervene in his country in his country under the reinforcement of partnerships.

 
The forum among businessmen and senior government officials of Angola and of South Africa was held following the intentions of strengthening bilateral cooperation, which were expressed by the Heads of State of the two countries during the visit paid to Angola by the South African President, Jacob Zuma.
