Luanda – An oil exploration project dubbed Tômbua-Lândana, with 46 wells, started producing on Tuesday at Block 14, with view to reach 100,000 barrels of oil/day by the year 2010, an official source announced in Luanda.
Situated 80 kilometres from the Angolan coast and 366 metres deep, the Tôombua-Landana development project was worth USD 3.8 billion, reads a communiqué issued by the National Fuel Company of Angola (Sonangol), which was sent to ANGOP this Wednesday.
The project also comprises an articulated-production tower measuring 474 metres, considered as one of the tallest man-made structures in the world.
All the associated gas will be sold at the facilities of the Liquefied Natural Gas (Angola LNG) project, which is being built in Soyo district, northern Zaire province.
The contractors group at Block 14 comprises CABGOC (Operator), with a share of 31 percent, Sonangol P&P (20%), ENI Angola Exploration B.V. (20%), Total E&P Angola (20%) and Galp Energia (9%).
