Kwanza Norte
Sonangol, Italian firm to produce bio-fuels

Ndalatando - An inventory project of palm-tree plantations has been implemented since last May in the province of Kwanza Norte, by Sonangol and EN, an Italian consortium, aiming at producing palm oil and processing bio-fuels.

The information was given Monday to Angop, in Ndalatando, by the head of the provincial department of the National Institute of Coffee (INCA), Tavares Geremias Hombo.

According to the official, the action is being developed by Sonangol in partnership with an Italian consortium EN and aims at collecting data on areas planted with palm trees, with a view to expanding the production of oil development projects in the field of bio-fuels.

The activity will take place in two phases, the first eing identifying the amount of grove of palm-trees existing in the province, followed by the introduction of new species of palm-tree from Ivory Coast, Singapore, New Zealand and Thailand.
