Luanda – A memorandum of understanding involving the oil firm Chevron Corporation, United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the League of US Cooperatives (CLUSA) was signed Sunday, in Luanda, on the fringes of the visit to
Angola of the secretary of State, Hillary Clinton.
The agreement sets the start of a new partnership, and focuses on financial, educational and technical support, as well as training to help improve trade among small and medium farmers and agricultural undertakings in Angola.
According to the US ambassador to Angola, Dan Mozena, the accord highlights the innovating way his Government and its corporative partners and NGOs work together towards diversifying the Angolan economy, aiming at the wellbeing of the citizens.
The memorandum will maintain the initiative of partnership in Angola, established in 200 between Chevron and other partners in areas of development, including USAID, estimated at Usd 56 million to support actions in education, food security, training of Governmental institutions and development of small companies in Angola.
On the occasion, the Angolan Oil minister, Botelho de Vasconcelos, said the agreement will boost agriculture of small and medium size, aiming at improving the living of Angolans.
In her turn, Hillary Clinton praised the US Government initiative, stressing that Angola has fertile lands and enormous water resources capable boosting prosperity.
