Luanda - The total production of crude-oil in Angola, from January to November 2009, reached 601,492,344 barrels, which represents a significant decrease in comparison to the same period of 2008, in which was produced 635,755,166 barrels.
These data were given on Wednesday, in Luanda, by the Oil minister, José Maria Botelho de Vasconcelos, during the yearend greetings ceremony that was attended by staff and representatives of companies in this sector.
According to the minister, this year the country had an oil production shortage of 34,262,822 barrels, due to the cuts decided by OPEC in view of the instability in the international market and the world financial crisis.
At the level of OPEC, said the minister, Angola had a production quota of 1,656,000 barrels per day, which started to be compulsorily reduced in December 2008, following a decision of the Cartel, of which Angola is a full member.
Botelho de Vasconcelos also reassured that the pro-environment efforts will proceed, aiming at reducing the burning of gas, until this practice is completely eliminated in the country’s oil industry.
