Chibia – A total of Usd 4 million will be invested by the business group "Admar Damião", in the construction of a vegetable and fruit processing and transforming plant in 2010 in Chibia district, some 45 kilometres to the south of Lubango, southern Huila province.
The information was released to Angop on Monday in Lubango by the provincial director of the Industry Ministry, Paula Baptista Joaquim.
The source said the project is intended to avoid the crops produced in the region from going bad due to lack of transportation.
Paula Joaquim said the business group has completed the feasibility studies of the site where the plant will be built.
The source who would not mention the plant’s producing capacity, said it will produce juice, fruit pulp, canned vegetable and fruit and other products.
According to specialists, the project seems to be feasible as the Ganjelas dam in the region and its irrigated perimeter are being rehabilitated, which will intensify the production in the plant.
With a population estimated at 131,540 inhabitants, Chibia district has three bakeries and 12 ornamental rocks mines.
