Luanda – The director general of the Angolan Institute of Standardisation and Quality (Ianorq), Homar Simão, said Thursday in Luanda that his institution carried out 964 metrological verifications around the country from the beginning of this year to September This, Angop learned, was intended to check the compliance of measurement instruments that included scales and fuelling stations metres.
According to Homar Simão, the operation with periodical and extraordinary character, covered the provinces of Luanda, Bengo, Namibe, Cabinda, Cunene, Kuanza Sul, Huíla, Benguela and K.Norte and was intended to expand metrological control to other regions of the country.
The source also said that while metrology is a large field, technical constraints facing the institute is limiting it to cover mass and volume measurements only.
He said Ianorq is currently carrying out its activities in big stores like Jumbo, Interpark, Afribelg, but will soon reach small outlets, markets and fairs.
As to Standardisation, according to the official, Ianorq continues elaborating and approving Angolan norms, adding that 20 new norms are available to the public for products and systems adopted by the International Standardisation Organisation (ISO) of which Angola is a member.
