Benguela – The Japanese ambassador to Angola, Kazuhiko Koshikawa, over the weekend encouraged the population of Canjala locality, central Benguela province, to invest in agriculture for their self sustaining.
The diplomat who was speaking during the ceremony that closed the “Cuvelo Irrigation System Rehabilitation Project” situated at Canjala said that he would like to see the result of the use of the irrigation system.
He added that he hopes the farming and harvesting produces good results, giving the peasants the possibility to sell their crops and buy other products.
On the other hand, the Association for Support to Communitarian Development (AADC) benefited by a grant of Usd 82.781 from the Japanese government.
Kazuhiko Koshikawa travelled to the provinces of Benguela, Huila and Namibe to take part in the ceremonies of inauguration and closing of projects financed by his government.
The agenda for Tuesday, third day of his visit, includes a tour of southern Huila province, where he is expected to open a course called “Reinforcing mathematics and sciences in secondary school in Angola”.
On Friday, last day of the visit, the ambassador will attend the ceremony of launch of the rehabilitation of the Namibe port on November 6.
