Luanda – The Angolan minister of Youth and Sports, Gonçalves Muandumba, watched the training of the national under-18 women team of handball on Thursday to encourage the players that will participate in the African championship of Dakar (Senegal) from September 22-29 this year.
Accompanied by his assistants, the minister encouraged the players to do their best to dignify the country in the said competition.
The national team entered Thursday its third week of preparation with one daily session under coach Fernando Sapalo.
According to the coach, the team will be starting friendly matches on August 20. “We want to play eight to nine matches ahead of departure to Dakar,” he stated.
Below is the list of summoned players:
Vitória da Cruz, Luyana Filipe, Amália Kibuba, Emília Molei (1º de Agosto), Vânia Vicente, Francisca Mateus (Interclube), Cénia Cazua, Nicoleth Ndozuawu (Inter de Benguela), Dalçana Cotto, Marrissol de Carvalho and Olga da Cunha (Sporting de Benguela).
Maria Fula (Sporting de Cabinda), Rosa Gala (Benfica do Lubango), Doneth da Silva, Feliciana Massseque (Desportivo do Maculusso) and Helena Viegas (Juventude de Viana) are the other players summoned for the Dakar operation.
Other teams attending the above mentioned competiton are Egypt (title holder), Gabon, Mali, Mozambique, DR Congo, Tunisia and host Senegal.
