Luanda – The work of the referees in the first leg of the national first division football championship (Girabola2012) was considered “poor” by the former chairman of the Basketball Federation’s Referees Council, Domingos Tomás.
Speaking to ANGOP on Tuesday, in regard to his assessment of Girabola’s first leg, which has recently closed, Dimingos Tomás declared that the referees manifested some irresponsibility in various games.
“Referees must show responsibility throughout the whole game. They must be able to interpret the regulations and not exaggerate in their application. They did not reach the level that was intended, even with the seminars that were organised before the start of the championship”, he explained.
Domingos Tomás is currently the chairman of the Luanda Province Football Association. He is also a former international referee and instructor of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
