Angolan boxer at 2012 London Olympic Games

Luanda, – The 24-year old Angolan boxer Mtumba Silva (+90 kg) has been selected to participate in the 2012 London Olympic Games, following a decision from the event’s organisation, an official source told Angop on Tuesday.

 

The decision from the tripartite commission organising the event has an extraordinary character and is intended to complete the number of players in the competition, the secretary general of the Angolan Olympic Committee (COA), Mario Rosa, said.


 
The official added that the process of registration of the pugilist is in progress, while the concerned federation is making the necessary arrangements.

 

Angola’s boxing last participated at the Olympic Games in 1992, in Barcelona.


 
Angola will be attending the event with basketball, handball, canoeing and swimming.


 
The country has so far attended the Olympic Games of Moscow (1980), Seoul (1988), Barcelona (1992), Atlanta (1996), Sydney (2000), Athens (2004) and Beijing (2008).
