CAN2013 trophy in Angola

 

Luanda – The cup of the African Cup of Nations (CAN2013), set for the next months of January and February in South Africa arrived on Monday afternoon in Luanda, to be seen b y the Angolan football fans during its three-day stay in the country.

 

The coming of the trophy to Angola is an activity promoted by Standard Bank Africa, which brough in Luanda a team led by the head of marketing of the referred banking institution, Angie Burton, who will stay in the country until 13 December.

 

The reception of the trophy at Luanda’s “4 de Fevereiro” International Airport counted on the presence of the provincial director of Youth and Sport, António Rosa, president of the Angolan Football Federation (FAF), general Pedro Neto, officials of Standard Bank in the country, three ambassadors elected for the activity and representatives of the Ministry of Youth and Sports. 

 

At the airport, the cup was exhibited to the spectators during 15 minutes to be filmed and potographed by the press.

 

According to Angie Burton, the trophy only can be touched by the Head of State before being won and after a national team wins the tournament.

 

According to the programme, it is reserved a car touro n Tuesday afternoon in the key wards of Luanda, with the participation of Joaquim Dinis, Fabrice Maieco “Akwa” and Love Kabungula, three ambassadors chosen by the referred bank.

 

The trophy has already been displayed in Angola during the holding of CAN2010, organized by Angola and won by Egypt.

 

The cup is expected to pass by the African cities of Kitwe, Ndola and Lusaka (Zambia), Mbabane and Piggs Pico (Swaziland), Walvis Bay and Swakopmund (Namibia).

 

CAN2013 will be played in the South African cities of Johannesburg, Durban, Mbombela, Rustemburg and Por Elizabeth from 19 January to 10 February.


 
Angola will participate in the event in group A, together with South Africa, Cape Verde and Morocco.
