Luanda – The assistant chairman of the Angolan Basketball Federation (FAB), Jean Jacques da Conceição, Thursday in Luanda, said the country would stand good chances to qualify for the Olympics Games of London (UK) this year, should there be a good preparation.
The official was speaking to Angop about the draw of Tuesday in Caracas (Venezuela).
He explained that the opponents in the first phase (Macedonia and New Zealand) are at the same level as Angola that have already played others in previous competitions like the Olympic Games and World Cup.
“The way we are going to prepare our team will be fundamental, since most of the teams are almost at the same level as we are,” said the FAB official.
According to the draw, Angola come in group D, together with Macedonia, playing on July 2, before facing New Zealand two days later.
The Olympic Game that will go from July 2-8, will be gather 12 participating teams divided in four groups.
Angola will be playing the competition with Nigeria, Dominican Republic, Macedonia, Greece, Jordan, South Korea, Lithuania, New Zealand, Porto Rico, Russia and Venezuela.
