Bengo governor concerned with illegal extraction of aggragate

Caxito – Bengo province governor, João Bernardo de Miranda, today denounced the illegal extraction of aggregates in the region and urged the extractive companies to legalize their activities, accordingly to the law on geological and mining activities.

At a meeting, promoted by the local office of the ministry of Industry, Geology and Mining, attended by representatives of 76 out of the 266 listed mining companies, the governor  backed the promotion of a partnership between the government of Bengo and the companies urging those paying taxes to give evidence of the compliance with their obligations.

He added that the Bengo government is intending to relocate the aggregate extracting operations from nearby inhabited areas due to pollution.

The governor also urged the companies to fulfil their social responsabilities contributing to the improvement of the living standards of the surrounding populations, repairing roads and building schools and health centers.
