Lubango – An Angolan Diabetes Association (ASDA) was set up on Tuesday, in Lubango City, in the southern Huíla Province, aimed at warning, training and educating sufferers of this disease on how to fight against diabetes.
This was said by the chairman of ASDA, Filomena Ciosa.
According to her, it is a national project aimed for the improvement of the living conditions of diabetic patients and thus reduce the rate of infected or affected people, since the figure has been increasing in the last years.
The association will be operating in the Agostinho Neto Central Hospital and it envisages the creation of mechanisms and strategies to inform the communities about the cares to be taken regarding the disease.
In addition, the chairman of ASDA said that an office to assist the public was created and equipped to serve for the effectiveness of screening and controlling glycaemia in patients, so as to understand the diabetic level of each individual.
ASDA expects to promote membership raising campaigns in next months so as to be part of the staff of the organisation.
The association is represented in the provinces of Lunda Sul, Namibe, Zaire, Benguela, Huambo, Uíge, Kwanza Sul and Huíla and it controls over 5000 members.
