Luanda – Former russian chess world champion, Anatoli Karpov, Saturday handed the trophies to the winners of the chess tournament, held from August 26 to September 2, allusive to the 68th birthday of angolan president Jose Eduardo dos Santos, celebrated on August 28.
National chess expert João Simôes won in the male category followed by national master Ediberto Domingos, both from Epal team, Sonia Rosalina was the female winner and Nelma Lopes placed 2nd.
The president of the angolan chess federation wished sucess to national chess players highlighting the presence of the sports former world champion who is in Angola to expose the basis for his candidacy for president of the International Chess Federation to be elected in September 17 in Kanty Mansvesk (Russia).
