Luanda - 1º de Agosto reached the third position in the national first division championship of football, after thrashing Benfica de Luanda by 4-1, in a 19th round match played at Luanda’s “Coqueiros” stadium on Wednesday.
1º de Agosto are thus levelled with fourth-placed Petro de Luanda with 31 points, as the latter beat Académica do Soyo by 3-2 Wednesday in Luanda.
The two matches were played earlier due to the involvement of 1º de Agosto and Petro de Luanda in African cups next weekend.
The round will continue on Saturday with the games between FC Bravos do Maquis and Interclube, Recreativo do Libolo versus Kabuscorp, Santos FC-Sporting de Cabinda and Sagrada Esperança-Benfica do Lubango.
On Sunday, Desportivo da Huíla will play Recreativo da Caála and FC de Cabinda will receive Atlético Sport Aviação (ASA).
The championship is currently led by Interclube with 36 points, two more than Recreativo da Caála that come second, while Benfica do Lubango stand last with 13 points.
