Luanda – The Youth and Sports minister, Gonçalves Muandumba, paid Monday in Luanda a homage to all Angolan women, in particular sports women, within the ambit of the International Women’s Day, March 8.
The Sport official said so to Angop in Luanda when he was returning to the country, after having watched the Saturday’s match between the national senior women football teams of Angola and Namibia, in Windhoek, qualifying for the African Cup of Nations to happen in the second quarter of 2010, in South Africa.
According to the minister, the trip to Namibia also served for him to pay a homage to Angolan women, as part of the celebrations of the International Women’s Day.
On the occasion, Gonçalves Muandumba reaffirmed that his institution considers female sports as very important, taking into account the joy offered by the Angolan senior women handball team, and others.
The minister also reiterated the engagement of the Angolan Government in the development of sports, so that the national teams may work harder at all levels to achieve other positions, either in world cups, Olympic Games or in other international tournaments.
The official appealed to all national sports agents, mainly those in the private sector, to invest more in sports and always count on Government support.
On the other hand, while abroad, the minister discussed with local authorities matters related to the reinforcement of bilateral co-operation in the sports field.
