South Africa, Mozambique seek Angola?s sports consultancy

Luanda – Sports officials in South Africa and Mozambique have expressed interest to count on the technical advisory of Angola, taking into account the events they will host this year, including the football World Cup to be held in June in South Africa, and the CPLP Games, to be held in July in Maputo.

The information was released Wednesday by the National Director of Sports, Raimundo Ricardo, when speaking on his participation in the meeting of the directors of sports in SADC, held last February in Swaziland.

The official said that the intention was expressed by their counterparts on the sidelines of the SADC Forum, which defined the performance model ahead of 2012 Olympic Games in London (England).

He added that the officials in South Africa and Mozambique have Angola as an example to follow in terms of major sports achievements, mainly CAN2010 after being highlighted in Africa and elsewhere as being of high-organization level.

He noted that Mozambique occasionally asked to send to Angola in the short term, a group of consultants to integrate the working committees of the organization of the Games of the Community of Portuguese-speaking Countries (CPLP).

Raimundo Ricardo said it would move to Mozambique next week to settle details of this issue with the local sports authorities.

As for South Africa, he stated that sending of Angolan technicians to this country, in a view of the world Cup in 2010, depends on further contacts between the two States, but added there is an agreement, at an advanced stage, to send a coach that will help develop the South African basketball this year, an issue that has deserved the attention of the minister of Youth and Sports, Gonçalves Muandumba.
