Luanda – The Angolan national women team of handball arrived in Luanda on Monday at 6:30 pm, after having won the 10th African Cup of Nations, following their victory over Tunisia 31-30 on Saturday in Cairo, Egypt.
Receiving the African champions at the Luanda international airport were the local governor, Francisca do Espírito Santo, the minister of Family and Women Promotion, Genoveva Lino, the deputy minister of Sports, Albino da Conceição, and other sport officials.
An enthusiastic crowd turned out in their thousands to welcome the champions that travelled aboard an Angola’s airlines (TAAG) plane that has also flown in the men’s team that ended fifth in the African championship.
After leaving the airport, the team will travel around the Luanda city, before reaching the “Cidadela” sports pavilion.
