Luanda - Angolan goalkeeper Carlos Fernandes, of the Portuguese Rio Ave club, is considering himself prepared to represent the national team in the Africa Cup of Nations in football (CAN2010), to be played next January.
Speaking to the press at end of the morning training session, held at Coqueiros stadium, Carlos, who represented the national team for the first time on Saturday, referred that he is motivated for this task, since it is a pride to represent the national squad.
"I am happy to be here representing the squad. It is a pride for any player to wear his country's jersey", he said.
During Saturday's 1-1 draw against Congo Brazzaville, Carlos replaced the first choice keeper Lamá, after the latter suffered an injury.
Carlos Fernandes, of 29 years of age, is expected to start on Wednesday during the friendly encounter against the Black Stars of Ghana, at Cidadela stadium, in Luanda, for the second friendly in the country under the management of the Portuguese coach, Manuel José.
