Luanda - The Angolan head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, said Friday in Luanda that the national team of football is in a favourable group of the African Football Cup of Nations (CAN2010) the country will host in January next year.
The president said so at the end of the draw of the 27th edition of the CAN2010 he attended in his capacity as official guest.
Eduardo dos Santos said as well that the Sables Antelopes (national team) stand good chances of qualifying for the following phase of the competition.
“We are in a group that is favourable, let’s hope we have luck during the games. I hoped we were going to be lucky and its seems we have”, said José Eduardo dos Santos.
According to the draw jointly organised by the CAN2010 organising committee and the African Football Confederation (CAF), the national team will play in Luanda in group A with
Mali, Malawi and Algeria while group B will be based in Cabinda, bringing together Côte d'Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Togo and Ghana.
Group C will go to central Benguela province, comprising Egypt, Mozambique, Benin and Nigeria while Cameroon, Gabon, Zambia and Tunisia come in group D that will play in
Lubango, souther Huila province.
CAN2010 will be played from 10 to 31 January 2010.
