Luanda – With the spirit to prevent anti-social situation and acts before and after the African Cup of Nations to be held in Angola from 10 to 31 January 2010, the National Police defined operational preventive and repressive measures to be used by the corporation.

According to the director of security and protection of COCAN (organizing committee of the African Nations Cup), Joaquim Ribeiro speaking on Thursday in a national seminar of journalists on the coverage of the continental tournament, said that the strategies will comprise the three stages of the event.

The official explained that the first phase includes operational activities until 5 January 2010 which is now underway and to develop this programme there was mobilized about 32,000 police officers.

This will enable to reduce level of criminality and organize administrative and organizational activities like training, change of experiences and information with other countries about organization of this event.

Speaking about the second part, Joaquim Ribeiro pointed out six fundamental aspects like security of border, roads, protection and patrolling, accommodation and stadiums.

To Joaquim Ribeiro the general security is marked with normal activity work of the police and car patrolling and actions to stop levels of criminality.

While border security, he said that'' we need to reinforce with forces and means to face eventual avalanches of foreigners trying to cross our border adding that measures to prevent road accidents should be taken.
