Luanda - President José Eduardo dos Santos highlighted this Wednesday the evolution of the national football squad, which is preparing for the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations, to be hosted from January 10-31 in Angola, having recommended greater backing from supporter for the success of the competition.
In brief declarations to the local sports radio station (Radio-5) during the halftime of the friendly match between Angola and Ghana (0-0), at Cidadela stadium, in Luanda, the Head of State stated that, after overcoming the initial concerns regarding cohesion, the squad is improving its performance.
President José Eduardo dos Santos stressed the need for support and care from everyone, in order for the national team to feel encouraged towards a satisfactory participation in the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN2010), to be played in the cities of Luanda, Benguela, Lubango and Cabinda.
According to the statesman, the squad that is coached by the Portuguese Manuel José should improve in terms of finalising plays and have a “target man” in the penalty box during the right moments, having also emphasized ed the need not to suffer goals.
The Angolan president expressed satisfaction at the work and engagement of all those involved in the preparation of the national squad (Sables Antelopes), and concluded that the care, support and encouragement are always essential to motivate the team during the CAN2010.
