Luanda – The Luanda governor, Francisca do Espírito Santo, said Sunday in Luanda she was proud for the country to receive, for the first time, the trophy that will be given to the winner of the 2010 world football cup of South Africa.
Francisca do Espirito Santo was speaking at Luanda’s “4 de Fevereiro” International Airport, short after the arrival of the FIFA trophy.
She said the presence of the world Cup Trophy in Luanda is also an opportunity for Angolans to get mobilised, particularly the youth and teenagers, to join sports.
“Football is a sport loved in Angola, mainly by the youth that must be encouraged, as it is also a path not only for social integration, but also for affirmation of citizenship”, said the governor.
The trophy of the 2010 World Cup of South Africa is since Sunday evening in Angola where it will remain until November 5, as part of its presentation to the countries of the continent hosting the competition.
The 36,8 centimetres tall trophy and 6,2 kilograms of weight, is made of eight carat of solid gold, being carried by a FIFA team on a tour sponsored by the multinational Coca-Cola company.
The trophy is on a tour of the continent’s 53 nations.
On Tuesday, according to the programme distributed by Coca-Cola, a press conference and photo session will be held, before the trophy is presented to the public the following day.
