Luanda- Petro de Luanda has been confirmed as winner of the 2009 edition of the first division championship of football (Girabola2009).
The information is contained in a communique from the Angolan Football Federation (FAF) that also confirmed Sporting de Cabinda, Benfica do Lubango and Sagrada Esperança da Lunda Norte as winners of the A, B and C zone tournaments qualifying for the first division.
According to the FAF communiqué that reached Angop, Petro de Luanda won the championship with 56 points, followed by Recreativo do Libolo (48), Benfica de Luanda (47), 1º de Agosto (45), Académica do Soyo (39), Santos FC (36), ASA (35), Interclube (33), Recreativo da Caála do Huambo (33), FC Bravos do Maquis (32), Desportivo da Huíla (31), Kabuscorp do Palanca (29), 1º de Maio de Benguela (23) and Académica do Lobito (17).
In the qualifiers for the first division of the national championship, Sporting de Cabinda, Benfica do Lubango and Sagrada Esperança da Lunda Norte finished the competition with 34, 23 and 24 points respectively.
Petro de Luanda will thus play the qualifiers for the champions league, while Kabuscorp do Palanca, 1º de Maio de Benguela and Académica do Lobito will play a playoff, together with Petro do Huambo, FC de Cabinda and Casa Helu da Lunda Norte that came second in the zone competition.
