Luanda - Angolan minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Maria Candida Teixeira, said Tuesday in Luanda that the intra-community cooperation will strengthen the performance within the CPLP, and respond to human resources training.
The Cabinet minister who was speaking at the opening of the meeting of ministers of the sector in the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), said that the meeting will also facilitate the contribution of science in solution of problems of societies and respond positively to the issues related to the climate change.
According to the minister, three years ago the member States have expressed, at the extraordinary meeting held in Lisbon, Portugal, an agenda that included measures of common interest in the fields like agriculture and independent assessment of the institutions and higher education courses at CPLP.
At the meeting, he added, the participants approached the development of earth observation systems, the inventory of natural resources and climate forecasting.
The meeting also analysed the advanced training and mobility of human resources (teachers, researchers, students and administrative staff).
Indicators of science, technology and innovation, strengthening of the scientific and technological culture and open access to scientific knowledge, were other issues discussed.
According to the official, the meeting should encourage the creation of teams of joint scientific research, the technological functioning and development in networks.
Maria Candida Teixeira underlined that the meeting has particular importance as it coincides with the United Nations works on sustainable development "Rio + 20", which among other issues will discuss the contribution of science in the socio-economic growth, prevention and mitigation environmental problems.
