Locally manufactured items contribute to reduce imports

Luanda – The Angolan minister of Telecommunications and Information Technologies, José Carvalho da Rocha, said Thursday in Luanda that the items being manufactured in the Luanda/Bengo Special Economic Zone (ZEE) will contribute to reduce
imports.

The minister was speaking during a visit to plants under the Luanda/Bengo ZEE, adding that in addition to reducing imports, it is providing jobs.

According to José Carvalho da Rocha, it is the Government’s intention to set up in the zone a national industry linked to the various sectors of the country’s economic activity to respond to the needs of the internal market.

He said many items manufactured in the ZEE like the fibre optic are of relevance for the sector.

Luanda/Bengo ZEE was inaugurated on 27 May 2011.
