Govt to grant 6000 scholarships in 2012

Luanda – The minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Maria Cândida Teixeira, last Friday in Luanda announced that her governmental department will  grant, next year, six thousand scholarships (internal and external ones), which added to the already existing ones will make a total of 15.000.

Maria Cândida Teixeira, who was speaking at the yearend greetings ceremony with her staff, informed that this move is aimed at honouring the commitments assumed by the executive in 2008.

According to the minister, from 2008 to 2011 nine thousand students benefited from internal scholarships and 1.879 got external ones.

“Currently, about 2.405 students are abroad in scholarships programmes (…)”, revealed the minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology.

The minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to education and stressed that “the development of Angola depends on qualified human resources (…)”.
