Luanda – The Angolan minister of Higher Education and Science and Technology, Maria Cândida Teixeira, Thursday in Luanda, said that the great challenge of her department is to improve quality, to the detriment of quantity, in the country’s training institutions.
Maria Cândida Teixeira said so while swearing in 42 new staff for departments of the Ministry of Higher Education and Science and Technology.
According to the minister, an evaluation will be conducted in higher education institutions of the country this year, seeking to identify their strong points and weaknesses in scientific research and technological development.
She said the strong points from each institution and the results of the evaluation will be published and put at the reach of all actors and participants of the process, while the weaknesses will be used to help correct and eliminate the blocking factors detected.
Maria Cândida Teixeira appealed to the newly sworn in staff to have an exemplary performance in accomplishing their duties.
She recalled that the accomplishment of the norms of functioning of the sector and of the civil service at large are governed by a deontological code that everyone is required to abide by.
