Addis Ababa – The investments being made by Angolan Government in the field of information and communication technologies will change the situation that came from the colonial era, when there was communication on the coast of the country only.
This was said in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) by the deputy minister of Science and Technology, Pedro Sebastião Teta.
Speaking to the press on the fringes of the ongoing session of the African Union (AU) Executive Council, Pedro Teta added that there are strong investments in the field of telecommunication infrastructures, which were not there in the colonial era where there was only communication coverage on the coast.
He underlined that the government has created a specific ministry, with a view to coordinating the country’s policies in the domain of information and communication technologies.
According to him, a great effort is underway to cover the whole country in terms of optic fibre and satellite solutions based on experiences taking place in the continent, where there are initiatives like that of the Indian Government aimed at connecting all African countries.
