Luanda – A Meteorological Messages Commutation System (Metier) is being installed by the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technologies to enable the supply to citizens of permanent and updated information about time and weather.
This was said Friday in Luanda by incumbent minister, José Carvalho da Rocha.
After a visit to the premises of the National Meteorological and Geophysics Institute (Inamet) and related structures, the minister explained that Metier is an updated technology system that will improve the supply of meteorological information to society.
According to him, the new technology will soon enable the Angolan Public Television (TPA) to improve the presentation of meteorological data to viewers.
Regarding the visit to Inamet facilities and Meteorological Equipment Room located on the premises of (TPA), the official said it aimed at checking the Metier system under installation that will secure an improved presentation of meteorological data.
The minister also assessed the investments made for the improvement of the services provided by the institute, checked the headquarters of Inamet, installed systems and their functioning.
José da Rocha highlighted that his visit to Luanda’s “4 de Fevereiro” International Airport was intended to check the level of operation of a giant screen which was set up there to inform citizens about weather and time on their arrival in Angola.
Accompanied by the deputy minister of Science and Technology, Sebastião Teta, and senior employees of his ministry, the official also visited the technical area and the construction works of new Inamet regional training centre, as well as the National Weather Forecast Centre.
