Luanda– The Angolan minister of Science and Technology, Maria Cândida Teixeira, will travel on Sunday to Budapest (Hungary), to attend the 2009 edition of the World Forum on Sciences, set for November 5-7.

 
The information is contained in a note from the Ministry of Science and Technology that reached Angop on Friday.

According to the source, on the fringes of the event, the minister will attend two round tables on “Structural organisation of research and finance: State’s role” and “The changes in science and scientific policies since 1999”.

Sponsored by the Hungary Academy, in cooperation with Unesco and the International Council for Science, the meeting is the fourth edition focusing on discussions on knowledge and future.

 
 
The event will be opened by the president of the Hungary Academy of Sciences and of the World Forum on Science, József Pálinkás, Unesco director general, Koïchiro Matsuura and the head of State of the host country, László Sólyom.

 
According to the organisation of the event, a total of 1,200 participants, among scientists, politicians and decision makers, have attended the event so far. About 90 countries are invited to Budapest for each edition.

 
 
The forum has been the venue for delivery of Unesco science awards that mark the World Science Day. This year, the award handover will take place on November 7.
