Lubango – The Angolan minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology, José de Carvalho da Rocha, announced Thursday in Luanda, that an optic fibre broadband internet will be launched in Lubango city, southern Huila province, in December this year.
Speaking to the press, during a visit of the African Football Cup of Nations (CAN2010)’s Organising Committee Monitoring Commission (COCAN), to the sports facilities works, the official said the process of installation of the optic fibre is 75 percent complete.
José da Rocha said the process is going satisfactorily, adding that Angola Telecom technicians have so far installed the cable in the city, the stadiums and Lubango international airports.
The process of installation of the optic fibre broadband internet in Lubango started in September, with conclusion expected for December this year.
The members of the COCAN Monitoring Commission, headed by the minister of Youth and Sports, Gonçalves Muandumba, visited the local stadiums and hotels.
The African Football Cup of Nations (CAN2010) will take place in four Angolan cities, Luanda, Lubango, Benguela and Cabinda, from January 10-31.
