Lobito – The Ministry of Environment intends to generate 20.000 new jobs, with the creation of policies of environmental economy.
This was said on Tuesday by the incumbent minister, Maria Fátima Jardim, while addressing the opening first International Conference on Solid Waste in Africa, taking place in Lobito city.
The official said that the green economy for Africa is an economy that will enable the reduction of extreme poverty, providing food self-sufficiency to people.
“We still do not understand what green Technologies are, we would like say that green technologies have already started in Angola, specifically in Lobito city, when we found this locality of Lobito clean”, said the minister.
On the other hand, Fátima Jardim said that the executive created jobs to reduce unemployment rate and resolve environmental problems, and all these created jobs are linked to green economy.
The two-day meeting is discussing issues related to the management, collection and processing of solid waste, one of the key environmental problems plaguing most of the developing and emerging countries, with emphasis on the African continent.

The referred congress is gathering collective entities, researchers, teachers, managers and staff linked to sustained management of solid wastes and Benguela province is the first African experience in this matter.
The topics, being discussed by experts from 18 countries, also integrates community officials, namely chieftains, members of civil society and private entities related to the sanitation of environment and management of residual water and solid wastes.
The event, whose activities preliminary debates that started on Monday, is taking place on 23-25 July in Lobito city and it is being attended by 200 participants from 18 countries.
