Environment Ministry gains new legal diplomas

Luanda - The Environment Ministry on Wednesday gained three new legal diplomas, namely the regulation on residues management, the strategic plan for the management of urban residues, and the diploma that creates the Centre for Tropical Ecology and Climate Changes.

The documents were approved at the Cabinet Council meeting, held last Wednesday, chaired by President José Eduardo dos Santos, in Luanda.

The two first diplomas are linked to the management of residues and are documents that guide the policies of the Executive in the domain of the environment and establish action points that will enable to combine the resolution of environmental problems and public health, relating to economic growth and the country’s development.

The director of the legal office of the Environment Ministry, Miranda Kiala, reacting to the approval of these legal diplomas, said to ANGOP that these are very important tools that will enable to put some order in the process of residues management, aiming at a healthier environment and well-being of the population.

Thus, the Environment Ministry has the competence to produce and divulge compulsory rules on the procedures and behaviours in the ambit of residues management, which includes the passing of fines, among other penalties.
