Luanda
Environment Ministry with legal tools for companies' accountability

Luanda – The Ministry of Environment currently has various legal instruments for the accountability of civil engineering and oil companies in case they cause damage to the nature.

This was said on Sunday in Luanda by the Environment Minister, Maria de Fátima Jardim, during “Espaço Publico” programme of the Angolan Public Television (TPA).

According to her, the awareness periods are gone and now all investments to be made should have a previous study of their activities.

To the minister, in the framework of the enforcement of these tools such as law on the assessment of environmental impact and others, it is recorded a satisfactory adherence of  investors that request these previous studies.

She said that in 2011, the sector recorded the entrance of more than 100 documents of environmental impact studies that requested their licensing.

The minister said that companies of the sectors of oil, agriculture, civil engineering and geology, among others, requested such services in last years.

The official said that the staff at the provincial level was trained to fulfil with objectives, basing on the legislative package.
