Luanda – The Angolan Environment minister, Maria de Fátima Jardim, Tuesday, at Kissama National Park, Luanda province, said that there has been a very important improvement to the environment situation in Angola.
The minister was speaking short after the official opening of the training course of ex-soldiers for national parks guards, adding that these improvements were attained thanks to efforts in the elaboration of legal diplomas regulating environmental activity in Angola, as well as training and upgrading of officials for the sector.
According to the minister, the 3rd assessment report will be released in February this year, updating the situation of environment in Angola.
This will clarify matters related to biodiversity, pollution, natural resources, pollution level and the situation of men.
The document was elaborated in two years and comes also to be a preparing dossier for the “Rio+20” Summit that will be held in June, in Brazil.
The event will assess the sustainable development of various countries.
In addition to the efforts done, the Government official thinks that it is necessary to reinforce actions on environment education, aiming at getting better environment situation in Angola, an attitude to provide living quality and population’s well-being.
The training course will be lectured in partnership with the Defence Ministry, attended by at least 45 former soldiers.
