Luanda - The Angolan Environment minister, Maria de Fátima Jardim, Friday in Luanda confirmed the birth of nine young black sable antelopes, in Luando Reserve, northern Malanje province.
The minister confirmed this while speaking at the opening ceremony of the first meeting of Supervising Committee for Conservation Project of Black Sable Antelope, during which she said that the referred species include a male and eight females.
The Supervising Committee of Conservation Project of Black Sable Antelope is a decision-making and guiding organ in the implementation of actionsof Memorandum of Understanding for conservation of the animal.
The document was signed on 17 July 2010, in Cangandala, northern Malanje province, between government and several public and private institutions.
According to her, the project for conservation of black antelope aims at protecting, conducting research and strategy as management.
Fátima Jardim hopes the Angolan society to participate in the project of preservation of the animal.
The Supervising Committee for Conservation Project of Black Antelope gathers ministers of Social Welfare, Higher Education, Sciences and Technology, governor of Malanje, Chief of General staff of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA).
The Principals of Agostinho Neto, Methodist, Independent, Catholic of Angola universities and chairperson of board of directors of the oil company (Sonangol), diamond (Endima), general managers of Esso, Total, Angola LNG operator and president of Kissama foundation, also integrate the project.
